Local SMS Groups |
SMS supports MDSTs, as well as partnerships with GTSB (Mark Campbell, 515.281.5430) and FHWA (Jim Brachtel, 515.233.7305). One of the goals of SMS is for each of Iowa's nine metropolitan areas to establish active MDSTs. Contact information for the various local SMS groups is listed below:

Funding is available to help support local efforts. There are annual grants of up to $10,000 available for start-up or special needs.
The Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau also provides local law enforcement and other entities with grants for many other local safety efforts.
